Contemporary Glazed Extension, Bradmore

We designed a contemporary highly glazed rear extension to this property in Bradmore, Nottingham to be replace a tired conservatory.

The property enjoys stunning views over the countryside and our client wanted a space in which they could relax and entertain in whilst taking in the views.

We were inspired by mid century modern pavilions that were highly glazed and used advancements in steel and technology to create large open plan living spaces with large expanses of glass. We looked at the work of Richard Neutra whose work often features his trademark spider leg where the structure continues from internal to external to give the illusion of the structure dissolving into space.

We used a minimal frame glazing system from Sightline to keep the frame as slim as possible at 20mm to maximise views internally. A glulam extended roof beam creates a feature above the glazing extending into the landscape below.
